
George Krouse
Member of the Board
George Krouse is Of Counsel at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP and a former partner in the Firm’s Corporate Department where he practiced corporate and securities law. From 1991 to 2002, he served as Head of the Firm's Corporate Department and from 2001 to 2006 was the Firm's Senior Administrative Partner. He is also a former member of the Executive Committee, the Firm's management body.
Mr. Krouse was selected by The Best Lawyers in America as among the country's best in Capital Markets and is ranked one of the leading Capital Markets and Corporate Governance lawyers in both Chambers USA America's Leading Lawyers for Business and in Chambers Global The World's Leading Lawyers for Business. He is a frequent lecturer and panelist at programs on Corporate Governance. In November 2004, Mr. Krouse was the recipient of The Henry H. Kessler Foundation's Corporate Citizenship Award honoring his support and interest in improving the lives of people with disabilities.
Mr. Krouse was a member of the Firm from 1978 through 2007. He received his A.B. degree cum laude from Brown University in 1967 and graduated with distinction in 1970 from Duke University School of Law, where he was Articles Editor of the Duke Law Journal and elected to Order of the Coif. He was admitted to practice law in New York in 1971 and is a member of the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association. From 1971 to 1975 Mr. Krouse served as a Judge Advocate in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Krouse has maintained close ties to Duke University since his graduation. From 1986 to 1992 he was a member of the Law School's Board of Visitors and served as Chairman of the Board for four years ending in 2001. Mr. Krouse currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Global Capital Markets Center at Duke and is a 2002 recipient of the Law School’s Distinguished Alumni Award. In 2006 he was appointed a Senior Lecturing Fellow at the Law School.
